About Us

Swaledale Country Holidays was set up in 2008 by husband and wife team Chris and Suzanne Mitchell. They bought Swaledale House and then set about renovating and modernising the two apartments – Kisdon and Lovely Seat (named after the hills they overlook) – installing a wonderfully relaxing hot tub and sauna in the process. In 2012 they bought Bramble Bottom cottage in Muker and embarked upon a two and a half year project to bring it back to life – it had been left empty for 10 years so was in very poor condition. It is now a fabulous holiday cottage for 10 people and we are very proud of what we’ve achieved.

We are both passionate about the Yorkshire Dales and in particular glorious Swaledale. We have always dreamed of living here and in 2012 finally realised that dream and moved here permanently. We are very keen walkers and get out into the hills of Swaledale as often as we can. We love meeting all our guests and helping them to enjoy the delights of the Dales. Many have become friends and adore this place as much as we do!
